KOBE Biennale 2015 SHITSURAI ART International Competition

JAPAN – MARCH 2015

Orderliness in Enables or rough way.

Materials used: metal constructions 20/20 mm with suitable thickness, painted in uniformly black. The white part is casting quartz with UV polyester and various Compounds that give hardness and strength along with smoothness and Shin. The upper casting surface is one piece of 2 cm and attached to the iron constructions.

Concept: The word “Suki” has many meanings: One is “Orderliness” – the wish for domestic order, organization of everyday objects, personal order, and social order.  Orderly has a fixed meaning in the traditional aspect, but in the post-modern concept order is relative. According to that one orderly is not the orderly of the other; the orderly of one group is not the orderly of the other group. In generally, the basic operations of placing an object in its place are certainly a matter of collective agreement, social and cultural Convention.

Relatively brings a dilemma to the concept of “orderliness”, It embrace the revers mining of it – “disorderly”.  The dilemma is expressed in different ways: fixed and rough orderly opposite to enabling and holding orderly, mechanical order opposite to natural order etc.

“Orderly” experienced by one person as an aesthetic, relaxing, clean and holding experience, but may be considered a stressful and obsessive experience for another. Neat and precise might be interpreted even estranged and distant.

On the one hand “order” is committed to stiff laws and convention, and on the other hand, the order is the way of nature. Nature has its order and in the same way we desire to establish “orderly” in a naturally way. “Orderly” is like a code for certain situations and social affiliation, professionally and personally.

The work is one unit that repeats itself in different combinations, give to the city a social fun meeting place, a playground that Draws inspiration from the conflict immanent in the concept of Orderliness. Display the spatial and architectural rough and Enable at the same time, meticulous and mechanical with enabling natural, open and closed situation.

A brief description of the work: The work consists of 180 identical units. Each group of 4 units creates one sitting space -total of 40 concave spaces and 10 spaces concave half balls. The units are affixed with screws and spacer of 0.5 cm to prevent adherence of the units.

The basic measure of a one unit is a 1/8 Tatami.

The work is design for outdoor conditions and all weather. Suitable for walking, running , low sitting inside the concave and on top of the surface.

Maintenance work during the exhibition: the work does not require specific maintenance, rainwater do not stay on top because of the gap between each and every units. If there is severe weather it may require cleaning from dust or sand.
